OpenView Telecom DM

Hewlett-Packard -- OpenView Division

The HP OpenView Telecom DM products supply the leading, standards-basedenvironment for building TMN or Operational Support Systems (OSS). HP'scombined strengths in network management protocols, distributedcomputing, telecom industry experience, and partnerships provide a strongset of features and solutions built with the help of the industry'sleading companies. FEATURES AND BENEFITS Built for and Adopted byTelecom -- The HP OpenView Telecom DM products are focused on meeting theneeds of telecom equipment and service providers. HP provides multipleprotocols (CMIP and SNMP) for building OSI and mixed protocol solutions.HP OpenView has been widely adopted by leading telecom equipmentmanufacturers for building network management solutions. HP OpenViewsolutions are actively deployed in telecom operation support systemsaround the world. A large number of system integrators and solutionpartners also make significant contributions to the delivery of completeOpenView Telecom solutions. Standards-based -- Driven by key telecomstandards, the OpenView Telecom products support protocol, object, andservice specifications defined by the ITU, ISO, X/Open, IETF (for SNMP),and NMF. Extensive conformance testing is a part of each release. Fullsupport for the CMIP, CMIP over RFC 1006 (TCP/IP), and SNMP managementprotocols are all provided. Open -- HP OpenView is built on the promiseof open systems enabling solutions to run on a variety of hardwareplatforms. OpenView Telecom products are built on an extensiblearchitecture and available on both HP and Sun(TM) computer systems.Additionally, the software has been licensed by leading computer vendorsincluding AT&T, Data General, Hitachi, NEC, Siemens-Nixdorf, Stratus, andothers. Communications Infrastructure -- Serving as the integrationpoint for management protocol stacks, management APIs, and relatedfacililties stacks, the Communications Infrastructure providesdistributed message routing and access to applications and servicesthrough standard management protocols. The Communications Infrastructurereliably creates and manages associations (connections), maps objects tonetwork addresses and protocol stacks, and routes requests, responses, and events. Event Services -- collect, forward, and log network eventsand traps in a distributed environment. Event routing, filtering, logging, and administration are based on the ISO/ITU system managementstandards and are extgended to include SNMP. The Event ManagementServices (EMS) provide full conformance to the AOM 221 and 231 profilesdefined by the ITU. Metadata Object Services and Tools -- provide a GDMOtool chain that compiles, stores, and provides dynamic access of objectdefinitions. Metadata retrieval allows applications to dynamicallyinteract with new objects. HP OpenView Windows -- easy to use GraphicalUser Interface (GUI) provides network operators and administrators aconsistent view of the managed environment and seamless integration ofmanagement functions regardless of vendor or managed object type. HPOpenView Windows provides a common interface that simplifies thedevelopment and use of management applications.
